According to a 24/7 Wall St. report, Maryland ranks seventh with 137 complaints per 100,000 people.
The state's average loss per scam is $836.
Michigan ranked first on the list, followed by Florida, Delaware, California and Illinois.
Hawaii has the least among of identity theft cases, with just 55.2 complaints per 100,000 people.
