Be prepared to shell out more money for health care in the future.

Marylanders purchasing individual health insurance coverage under the Affordable Care Act can expect to pay higher premiums next year.

The Maryland Insurance Administration approved a last-minute rate hike that is expected to affect the roughly 96,000 people who buy silver plans through the state's health insurance exchange.

Tax credits will also rise, which will largely offset the impact of the increase.

Open enrollment runs from November 1 through December 15.
