36 new troopers will have joined the ranks of the Maryland State Police force.
Family, friends, and their commanding officers gathered to celebrate the new trooper candidate class 146.
"Class of 146, today has finally come. It was a long six months. We are about to embark on a new and exciting career, however, this is not the end of our training, but it is, in fact, the beginning. A new chapter in our story," said class president Matthew Honsinger.
Members of the class completed six months of training including instruction in criminal and traffic laws, emergency care, emergency driving, physical training, and scenario-based training.
After a period of leave, the new troopers will begin eight weeks of practical instruction with field training troopers before they can patrol alone.
The next candidate class is scheduled to begin August 20th.
