The fight against heroin addiction in Maryland got a boost on Wednesday.

Maryland State Police received more than $288,000 in funding from the Anti-Heroin Task Force Program run by the U.S. Department of Justice.

AHTF provides the money directly to law enforcement in states with high per capita levels of primary treatment admissions for heroin and other opioids. According to the DOJ, the funding helps track illegal distribution of heroin and prescription opioids.
