The days are shorter and the nights are longer, meaning fall is in full swing.

But the new season can be the most dangerous for pedestrians.

Every year, more than 100 pedestrians are killed in our state and nearly 2,500 more are injured.

To help with the growing problem the State Highway Administration launched, 'Look Up, Look Out.'

Christine Nizer, from the Motor Vehicle Administration, said it's a reminder that everyone has to be aware.

"For drivers: park your phone before you drive, look out for people walking and slow down, particularly in intersections. For pedestrians: don't walk distracted, don't start at your phone while you walk and make sure drivers see you before you cross that street. Always cross at a crosswalk and wait for the signal," she said.

It is also recommended that people wear bright colored or reflective clothing if they are going to be walking outside, especially near dusk.
