Man pleads guilty to selling deadly heroin

Posted

A Hagerstown man has pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute heroin that resulted in the death of a 19-year-old Clear Spring woman.

The U.S. Attorney's Office says 32-year-old Cory Allen Kline pleaded guilty Tuesday to his involvement in the April 13 heroin overdose death of Brooke Simmers.

Court documents say in April 2015 Kline and co-defendant Erica Buffolino agreed to provide heroin to Simmers, who was a recovering heroin addict and had recently been released from jail. Documents say Simmers became "very high" after injecting the heroin.

The next day, Simmers' body was discovered in her car in a church parking lot. The medical examiner reported the cause of death was heroin intoxication.

A news release from the prosecutor's office says Kline admitted Tuesday that his distribution of heroin resulted in Simmers' death.

Kline's will be sentenced April 11.
