Man faces 20 years after pleading guilty to bombing police car

A man pleads guilty to detonating a pipe bomb on top a police car.

On Monday, Kyle R. Mueller of Thurmont appeared in federal court, pleading guilty on charges of malicious usage of explosive materials.

As part of the plea deal, Mueller admitted to maliciously damaging and attempting to destroy a marked police vehicle, by means of an explosive and destructive device in the form of a pipe bomb.

The incident occurred on August 3, 2016 on Clark Avenue in Thurmont. Two days later, Mueller was arrested.

A sentencing date has not yet been set. Mueller faces 20 years behind bars.
