An 18-year-old has been charged with driving a stolen vehicle to a Montgomery county school, and taking a weapon on school property.

Mario Alvarado was arrested Monday morning at Albert Einstein High School in North Kensington.

A school resource officer saw Alvarado park a blue Mazda 3, and then return to the car a short time later. The SRO pulled over Alvarado, who fled from the scene and later returned.

Police say the Mazda 3 was stolen, and inside they found an assault rifle that had been stolen from a Rockville City police officer.

Police found a Nissan Frontier parked nearby, which was also stolen. They found a shotgun inside the Frontier, which had been stolen from the same police officer.

Alvarado is charged with possessing a deadly weapon on school property, possession of a stolen vehicle and other charges. At last check he was still being held on $2,000 bond.

Detectives also arrested a 15-year-old male in connection with the auto thefts. He was released to his parents.
