A man is convicted a second time for slitting a puppy's throat.

On Tuesday, after two days of deliberating a Charles County jury found Stephen Eugene Paysinger, 39, guilty of aggravated animal cruelty.

The case dates back to February 25, 2016 when officers responded to the 4900 block of Diamond Oaks Court in Waldorf.

An investigation revealed on February 24, Paysinger entered a residence, grabbed a puppy at the location and began to choke it. Paysinger then retrieved a knife from the kitchen and stabbed the puppy. Afterwards, Paysinger took the puppy outside and proceeded to slit the puppy's throat, while threatening residents of the home including three children.

Authorities located and arrested Paysinger the same night they were called. The puppy was found in the neighborhood the following morning, and miraculously survived it's injuries.

Paysinger was previously convicted on the same charge, however the case was later overturned due to a legal technicality.
