A Maryland State Police helicopter rescued a 67-year-old woman from a remote wooded area after she was thrown from a horse.
Police said the woman was riding deep in the woods in Brookeville, Maryland when the horse threw her off and kicked her. Rescue crews from Montgomery County Fire & Rescue made contact with the woman about 45 minutes after the 911 call.
Crews requested a Trooper helicopter for an aerial rescue due to the severity of the woman's injuries and the remote location.
While the chopper hovered over the scene, the trooper lowered down to the scene and put her into a rescue device. She was hoisted back in to the helicopter and was flown to MedStar Washington Hospital in D.C. for treatment.
