A century-old property in Maryland is poised for demolition after a judge sided with a city in a land ownership dispute.
The Daily Times of Salisbury reports a judge ruled last month that Nathans Associates had no valid claim to the Dumser's Dairyland after a previous lease with Ocean City expired last year. Nathans Associates are the heirs to the original property owner of the location where the ice cream parlor resides.
Ocean City Solicitor Guy Ayres says the town rented the property to Nathan Rapoport and his heirs for 50 years. At the direction of the mayor and council, Ayres demanded the heirs vacate the property by Sept. 20.
The building must be physically removed or demolished by Dec. 31, unless an agreement is reached between the two parties.
