Gov. Larry Hogan and a star from the “House of Cards” series teamed up in a new video urging parents to discuss the risks of heroin addiction with their kids.
In the new public service announcement, “Before It’s Too Late,” actor Michael Kelly and Hogan encourage families to visit MDDestinationRecovery.org or call 1-800-422-0009 for heroin and opioid addiction resources.
The PSA was filmed in Maryland and comes after Hogan’s executive order declaring a state of emergency in response to the heroin crisis.
The order activates the state’s emergency management authority and ramps up coordination between state and local jurisdictions.
Hogan also announced $50 million in new funding to address the issue.
