Dr. Renee Foose, the former superintendent for the Howard County Public School System, has declined a job offer from the Maryland State Department of Education, according to a spokesman.

Earlier this week, it had been announced that Dr. Foose had been approved as a new Assistant State Superintendent. The position would have worked out of the Office of the Deputy for Teaching and Learning, Division of Assessment, Accountability and Information Technology.

The position pay scale ranges from a minimum of $92,333 to a maximum of $123,236 a year.

Foose left Howard County Public Schools earlier this year. The county agreed to a nearly $1.6 million retirement package for her.
