Maryland is paying a special tribute to Personnel Specialist First Class Xavier Martin.

The 24-year-old from Halethorpe is being interred at Arlington National Cemetery Wednesday, and flags across Maryland will be lowered in his honor from sunrise to sunset.

Martin was one of seven sailors killed in June when a container ship crashed into the USS Fitzgerald off the coast of Japan. U.S. Navy officials just announced the damaged destroyer will be transported back to the U.S. possibly as soon as September.
