An early morning fire in Prince George's County completely destroyed a home Monday.
The person who was home at the time was able to escape to safety with two dogs, officials say.
Around 7 a.m., Prince George's County firefighters were called to a home in the 15400 block of Jamies Way. When they arrived, crews found flames coming from both levels of a two-story house as well as the basement.
A short time later, the first floor of the house collapsed. No firefighters were inside at the time.
No water hydrants were near the home, and several water tankers carried more than 2,000 gallons of water each were called to the home.
Preliminary damages are estimated at about $1.5 million.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
