District Heights mayor James L. Walls dies

DISTRICT HEIGHTS, Md. (AP) - The mayor of the city of District Heights has died.
 
The police department said in a statement that the mayor, 39-year-old James L. Walls Jr., died Thursday. The statement says the cause of death has not been determined.
 
District Heights Police Chief Elliott Gibson tells The Washington Post that paramedics were called to Walls' home about 11:35 a.m. and found him unresponsive. Walls was pronounced dead about noon.
 
Prince George's County Police, who are investigating the death, said in a news release that there are no signs of foul play.
 
According to the city's website, Walls was serving his third term as mayor after being re-elected in 2014. He was the youngest person ever elected to the post in the city of about 6,000.
