ANNAPOLIS, Md. — On Thursday, Andrew Serafini announced his resignation from the Maryland Senate, effective, August 1st.

Serafini has represented District 2 in Washington County as a Republican State Senator since 2015.

Before moving up to the Senate, Serafini served as a Delegate for District 2A from 2008 to 2015.

He was a member of the Budget and Taxation Committee.

“It has been my honor and pleasure to serve District 2 in the Senate and House of Delegates,” said Serafini. “I am thankful for the relationships with my colleagues, and I am proud of the work we have done to improve the lives of all Marylanders. I am especially grateful to my family, friends, employees and clients for supporting me in this journey over the past twelve years.”

“On behalf of all our members, we wish to thank Senator Serafini for his service to our caucus, the Senate, his constituents, and the entire State,” said Senate Minority Leader, J.B. Jennings. “Andy is one of the best human beings you could find and was a dedicated public servant. Andy was our ‘numbers guy’ and always took the time to dive into the issues, especially the budget, and worked to build consensus with his colleagues on both sides of the aisle.”
