In an emergency meeting called today in Annapolis, the judges of the Court of Appeals unanimously voted to restore the names of police officers in the Maryland Judiciary Case Search web site.

Officers' names were taken off the database late last week because of a rule adopted by the rules committee of the court.

In a letter dated Monday, Judge Alan Wilner who chairs the Standing Committee on Rules of Practice and Procedure said the language leading to the exclusion of law enforcement officers' names was adopted in June of last year but that it was "an honest mistake."

Today, all judges unanimously agreed that the change should never have occurred and immediately restored the names to the database.

That information should be back on the case search website beginning Friday.
