Comptroller Peter Franchot will speak to the House Judiciary Committee Wednesday on the Taxpayer Protection Act.

The bill, submitted by Governor Hogan, will give the comptroller's office more authority to cover tax fraud and identity theft.

Last week, Franchot's office suspended procession of tax returns from 20 tax preparers. In 2016, he blocked 68 businesses.

Franchot will speak to the Senate Wednesday.
