The North East Youth Football raised over $3,000 for the father of four children involved in the programs who is one of the victims from the Edgewood shooting last week.

Ed Sosa remains in critical condition in Shock Trauma in Baltimore.

The program was already scheduled to hold their “Pie in the Face” raffle fundraiser this weekend, which lets players throw a pie at their coach. After the shooting, the program decided to donate the money raised towards the Sosa family and match the total earned as well.

Saturday’s event was a success, organizers say over $1,000 was raised from the pie throwing contest, over $200 of it donated by Coach Jerry who sat in the chair all day and let kids throw for two dollars each.

The community reached out to them and donated over $2,000 additionally; the organization is still collecting and expects to release an updated total this week.
