A candlelight vigil and moment of silence are planned in honor of a narcotics officer killed a week ago in a shootout at a Maryland police station.

The Prince George's County Police Department said in a statement that it is holding the vigil and moment of silence Sunday to honor 28-year-old Detective Jacai Colson. Colson was killed by one of his fellow officers after a man began firing outside the department's Landover police station. The county's police chief has said Colson, who was in plainclothes, was mistaken as a threat.

The police department is inviting people to the Landover station's parking lot for a vigil and moment of silence at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, the time the attack began a week ago.

Colson's funeral is scheduled for next week.
