The Bowie Volunteer Fire Department says a massive brush fire could have been started by a meteorite.
The fire started Sunday evening around 5 p.m. in a wooded area near Scarlett Oaks Terrace.

According to WTOP the fire took several hours to put out.
The fire department thinks that the flames from the rock ignited trees and bushes in the area.
