Bills could give tax breaks for pet adoption

Marylanders could soon get a tax break for adopting a shelter cat or dog.

Del. Glen Glass (R-District 34A) will introduce two bills this session.

One would give a tax break of up to $1,000 for veterinary services to those who adopt a government service dog.

The second gives a tax break of up to $100 to anyone who adopts a shelter dog or cat.

"There are so many service animals that are being euthanized every year. It is such a shame," said Glass.

Glass hopes more people will choose to adopt from shelters if the bills are passed.
