According to investigators during a search of the crime scene, they recovered a folding knife. They say after the examination of Maryland State Police Forensic Sciences Division, DNA evidence was found on the knife. When police were able to identify Braxton as a possible suspect, they obtained DNA from him and forensics determined the DNA evidence found on the knife was a positive match with his DNA.

Police say Braxton has been charged on an indictment from a Somerset County Grand Jury with second-degree murder, manslaughter, first-degree assault and second-degree assault.

Braxton is waiting for an appearance before a court commissioner.
