ASSATEAGUE ISLAND, Md. (WMAR) - The new per-person fee increase takes effect at Assateague Island on Tuesday.
If you decide to visit the island, it will now cost you $10 a person to enter the park, instead of the original $5.

And this is not the only price hike planned. Starting January 1st, 2020 the per person fee will go up to $15 and vehicle and motorcycle fees will increase on that date as well.
Officials did say that a family traveling together will not have to pay more than the vehicle fee.
That extra money will go toward improving the park's infrastructure and park maintenance. For more information click here.
