Animals evacuated ahead of Hurricane Maria will soon be up for adoption in Maryland.

Hurricane Irma destroyed a British Virgin Islands Humane Society shelter. Humane Society International then came in to help rescue dogs, cats and farm animals from the area before Maria hit last week.

More than two dozen dogs and cats are now being boarded at the Greenbriar Veterinary Hospital in Frederick. They'll receive treatment before being place in shelters for adoption.

No word yet on the exact date for when the animals will be available for adoption.
