Maryland State Police suspect alcohol was a factor in two accidents in Frederick Wednesday night.

At about 10:30 p.m., police responded to a two car crash between a 2008 Nissan Altima and a 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt. The driver of the Nissan, 27-year-old Kelsie Marie Enders, of Frederick County, was determined to be the at fault driver.

The responding Maryland State Trooper Deater detected alcohol on Enders breath, at which point Enders became belligerent, kicking and screaming, police said. She was taken to Frederick Memorial Hospital for possible minor injuries, and refused a blood test to determine her blood alcohol level. She was subsequently charged with DUI and released to the care of the hospital.

At about 11:40 p.m., police responded to a single-car crash in the 3900 block of Petersville Road in Knoxville, Md., where a 1994 Toyota Camry station wagon hit a telephone pole.

The 22-year-old driver of the Toyota, Katherine Elizabeth Palmer, of Frederick County, was taken to Frederick Memorial Hospital for minor injuries. Maryland Trooper Oleyar met Palmer at the hospital and detected alcohol on her breath. Palmer submitted to a blood test and was released to the care of the hospital.
