Nominations hearing considers Rod Rosenstein to be Deputy Attorney General; and Rachel Brand to be Associate Attorney General.
If confirmed, Rosenstein would be in line to oversee any investigation into alleged Russian interference in the U.S. election and links between Russian officials and the Trump campaign, after Attorney General Jeff Sessions recused himself last week.

Sessions recused himself after the Department of Justice acknowledged he had spoken twice with Russia Ambassador to the U.S. Amb. Sergey Kislyak last year and had failed to disclose the contacts during his Senate confirmation process.
