Report: Toys R Us removes Breaking Bad toys

Posted

Toys R Us customers won't be able to buy Breaking Bad action figures at the stores after all.

The chain decided to pull the themed toys after a Florida mother created a petition on change.org to remove the toys from the shelves, according to The Associated Press. As of Tuesday evening, more than 8,500 people signed the petition.

AMC's hit show featured a high school chemistry teacher who becomes a crystal meth dealer. The action figure for Walter White, the show's main character, featured a bag of fake crystal meth.

"While the show may be compelling viewing for adults, its violent content and celebration of the drug trade make this collection unsuitable to be sold alongside Barbie dolls and Disney characters," the petition stated.

Toys R Us originally defended selling the action figures, according to NBC News. The company noted the products were put in the adult section and clearly noted the items are meant for ages 15 and up.
