A terrifying rescue was caught on tape during the Ellicott City flooding Saturday, and one woman is lucky to be alive.

David Dempster, owner of the Still Life Gallery on Main Street in Old Ellicott City captured footage of a group of men forming a human chain to save a woman trapped inside of her car in rushing waters.

The video shows the woman unsuccessfully attempting to steer her vehicle through swift waters before several men join hands and pull her to safety through the passenger side window.

Dempster’s wife, Sara Arditti, took to Facebook Sunday to thank people for offering support after watching the video.

“I am overwhelmed by the number of people reaching out to me because of the video Dave took of the car rescue,” Arditti said. “We are deeply touched by this outpouring of support for our community.”

The video has been viewed more than 80,000 times on YouTube, with 1.6 million views on Facebook to date. The woman rescued, Jaime Knight, later got a chance to meet Jason Barnes, one of the men who saved her life.
