A slain teacher was honored Tuesday.
The Howard County Board of Education awarded Laura Wallen, Senior Class Teacher of the Year.
Students of the senior class at Wilde Lake High School selected Wallen for the award.
Annually, seniors from each Howard County High School elect a Teacher of the Year at their respective schools.
A pregnant Wallen disappeared over Labor Day weekend in 2017. Her body was later found in a shallow grave in Damascus.
