ELLICOTT CITY, Md. — Howard County Fire crews battled a late Saturday apartment fire, leaving multiple residents displaced.

Firefighters and paramedics arrived to the 9100 block of West Springs Drive at the Howard Crossing Apartments in Ellicott City. On the scene, crews found a fire showing from the first floor and extending up the exterior of the building.

Officials said crews searched the building and all residents evacuated safely before the fire department arrived.

The fire was out in 15 minutes and confined to the original apartment. There were no injured firefighters or residents. Fire officials said the American Red Cross will assist 13 displaced residents.

An American Red Cross official said six families were affected and only three requested assistance.

The HCDFRS Office of the Fire Marshal responded and will conduct an investigation.
