Police investigating multiple carjackings in Columbia

COLUMBIA, Md. — Howard County Police are investigating multiple carjackings that took place in Columbia.

On February 28 in the 8700 block of Cloudleap Court, a man reported that he was sitting in his parked vehicle when he was approached by two suspects with their faces partially covered who implied they had a gun, threatened him, and demanded his vehicle.

The victim complied and the suspects drove off in the vehicle. The vehicle was recovered later that night in a neighboring jurisdiction. Police say no one was injured.

The next day in the 6000 block of Foreland Garth, another victim reported that three suspects approached him and followed him to his vehicle.

The victim entered his vehicle when the suspects displayed a handgun, assaulted him, and attempted to steal the vehicle before fleeing. The victim was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

On Sunday in the 7300 block of Oakland Mills Road, a woman reported that she was approached at her vehicle by three suspects, one of whom showed a gun or stun gun.

The suspects demanded the victim’s keys and fled in her vehicle, a 2006 Toyota Corolla with tags MD/3AL9248, but no one was injured.

All three incidents are currently under investigation.
