Police: 4yo hit by cyclist, now in body cast

Police are seeking a cyclist who struck and injured a child on a path near Lake Elhorn in Howard County.

According to witnesses, the victim was walking along the path with a parent. A bicyclist approached them from behind and rang his bell to alert them of his presence. The child attempted to get out of the way, but she and cyclists collided on the edge of the path.

The bicyclist stopped and asked if the child was alright, but then continued on his way. The 4-year-old victim suffered a serious injury and was transported to a hospital. She is currently in stable condition, but wearing a body cast as a result of her injuries. 

Officers searched the area, but could not find the bicyclist. He may have been riding a red bike. 

A private contributor is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information that confirms the rider's identity. Anyone with information should call the Howard County Police tip line at 410-313-STOP.
