JESSUP, Md. — A motorcycle collided with a car Saturday afternoon and left one dead and two others with serious injuries, according to Howard County Police.

At 1:14 p.m., 30-year-old Carlos Ernesto Banos Galdamez was riding his 2006 Yamaha, westbound in the 10500 block of Guilford Road when it collided with a 2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser that had been traveling eastbound.

Banos Galdamez was pronounced dead at the scene. However, the driver of the Chryster, 40-year-old Jorge Alexander Parra Morales, and his two passengers, an adult female and a juvenile boy, all suffered serious injuries.

The department said Parra Morales was transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center with serious injuries and has been released. The other two passengers were transported to Johns Hopkins Hospital with non-life threatening injuries

Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances of this collision and believe speed was a factor.

Guilford Road was closed for three hours as a result of this accident, but it has since been reopened.
