Speeches filled with excitement radiated through Columbia Monday morning as the groundbreaking for the new Merriweather District began.
With this new district comes the first high-density, mixed-use neighborhood in the Columbia area. This means a 12-story office building which will mainly house Tenable Inc's headquarters, one of the fastest growing cybersecurity software companies in the country.
"The Merriweather District represents the future of Maryland's tech evolution. And as the future home of the Tenable's headquarters, it also means hundreds of new jobs right here in Columbia,” said Governor Larry Hogan. "Maryland truly is open for business."

In addition to Tenable's headquarters, Columbia will be transformed into a walkable area that would hopefully attract more key tech and cyber security businesses and projects. Plans indicate that there will be One and Two Merriweather, a collection of residential, retail, office, and public space.
The Merriweather District will be in the area of Hickory Ridge Road and Merriweather Drive in Columbia.
