A new traffic light on Marriottsville Road, at the ramp for westbound I-70 in Howard County, begins operation Friday morning.
The new signal replaces a stop sign, allowing drivers to continue to freely turn right but directing traffic turning left from the highway ramp onto Marriottsville Road.
The signal has been added to improve safety at the intersection.
