COLUMBIA, Md. — A man was rescued from the second floor of a Columbia townhouse fire Friday morning.

Howard County Fire and Rescue Services were sent to the 5800 block of Harness Court at about 7 a.m. A man who was the house’s loan occupant called 911. He said there was a fire in his house, and he could not escape the residence.

Firefighters arrived and rescued the man from the second floor via a ground ladder, firefighters said. The fire was then quickly extinguished. The man was taken to Howard County General Hospital for treatment. Firefighters said he was in stable condition.

The fire is under investigation by the Office of the Fire Marshall.
