Parents in Howard County will vote for the next candidates to join the Board of Education Tuesday.
Six candidates are on the ballot, but three of the seven slots are open.
The candidates include incumbent Janet Siddiqui, along with challengers Christina Delmont-Small, Robert Miller, Vicky Cutroneo, Mavis Ellis and Kirsten Coombs.
The Board of Education has faced tough scrutiny this year for an ongoing mold issue. Parents said the school board and superintendent failed to tell them about the problem at Pointers Run Elementary and Glenwood Middle School.
More concern was raised after the board renewed the contract of Superintendent Dr. Renee Foose in February.
A recent state audit highlighted several problems within the school system, such as not following protocol when awarding vendor contracts and scheduling bus routes properly.
The school district disagreed with most of the findings in that report.
