After a tornado touched down in Howard County Tuesday, officials have opened two temporary sites for residents to bring debris for disposal.

The two sites are located at:

  • Burleigh Manor Middle School, 4200 Centennial Lane, Ellicott City
  • The Howard County Living Farm Museum, 12985 Frederick Road, West Friendship

The sites will be open from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Officials said directions for disposal will be provided on site. Only wood waste material will be accepted, and the disposal sites will not accept trash.

Anyone who lost power and needs to get rid of spoiled food, should dispose of it as trash or take it to the Alpha Ridge Landfill for composting. Meat, dairy or fish will not be accepted for compost.
