As expected, Howard County Executive Allan Kittleman vetoed a controversial sanctuary county bill Thursday.
The council on Monday night voted 3-2 in favor of the bill, which brought forth hours of testimony from community members. Kittleman said almost immediately he planned to veto it.

Earlier this week, Kittleman called the bill "a hollow political statement" that "unnecessarily divided our foreign-born community and caused rifts in our county."
