Holiday shopping can be exciting and hectic, but it's important to pay attention to safety.
The Howard County Police Department took to Facebook to share their safety tips this holiday season:
- Shop with a friend or a group - not alone
- Be aware of your surroundings
- Don't overload with packages - keep one hand free
- Park in well-lit, populated areas
- Use reputable online retailers
- Have a neighbor or friend collect deliveries if you can't get to them right away
- Remember, putting out boxes just advertises your new big-ticket items! Breaking down boxes might prevent a burglary
