UPDATE: Although heavy rain fall is expected in the area, officials say the water did not breach the channel and Main Street is reopening.
Howard County officials warned residents to avoid the Ellicott City Main Street area due to the heavy rain grazing across the area.
As water levels rise in Ellicott City, officials asked that everyone make there way to higher ground.
Please avoid Ellicott City’s Main Street. We are taking precautions as waters rise. We are closely monitoring the rainfall and rising water levels.

According to the National Weather Service, a reported 1-foot of rain water was on Main Street.
