Howard County Police Department has determined that this year's opioid overdose cases have exceeded the cases from the previous year.
According to a recent chart posted on the Howard County Police Facebook page, last year they responded to 133 non-fatal overdoses compared to this year's 138 non-fatal overdoses. Last year, they had 29 overdose deaths and this year they reached 43 overdose deaths.
Among all of this year's non-fatal overdoses, 93% of them naloxone, also known as Narcan was used.
