Residents, business owners, and first responders dealing with last weekend's flooding will get a little extra help with their wireless and internet services as the clean up and rebuilding continues.

Verizon is waiving billing, setting up additional network equipment, and offering free charging stations in the Ellicott City, Md. area.

Wireless customers with billing addresses in the zip codes 21041, 21042, 21043, 21044, and 21045 qualify for having their bill charges waived from May 27 to May 29. The company will also coordinate with county government to waive billing charges for Verizon Fios, landline and B2B customers in flood damaged areas.

On top of bringing in equipment to add extra wireless coverage, the company has established WiFi hotspots for public safety agencies. There is also a tent set up on Main Street in downtown Ellicott City for emergency workers and the public at large to come and charge their devices.
