HOWARD COUNTY, Md. — A man is dead and another is injured after a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 70 near Morgan Station Road in Howard County on Monday afternoon, according to Maryland State Police.
The crash happened in the eastbound lanes around 4 p.m. The driver of a sedan struck the back of a box truck, causing the box truck to lose control, strike a guardrail, and overturn.
Sakee Ali Davis, 32, of Havre de Grace, was a passenger in the box truck. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the box truck, Noah Ensminger, 21, of Elkton, was hospitalized for his injuries.
The driver of the sedan, John Amare, 18, of Damascus, is charged with negligent motor vehicle homicide while under the influence, motor vehicle homicide while impaired by alcohol, negligent manslaughter, and other related charges and citations. Amare is being held without bond at the Howard County Detention Center.
Lanes were closed for approximately 4 hours for the crash investigation. The Maryland State Police Crash Team continues to investigate.
