Old, antiquated water mains will be replaced at several locations in Elkridge, Wednesday, July 25, Howard county officials said.

The county expects no interruptions in public water service during these repairs.

Roughly 6,350 linear feat of 12-inch water main will be installed along following the locations:

  • Levering Avenue from Washington Boulevard/US 1 to Lawyers Hill Road
  • River Road from Lawyers Hill Road to the I-95 overpass
  • Park Entrance Road from the I-95 overpass to Gun Road
  • Gun Road from Park Entrance Road to the CSX railroad crossing

To accommodate the construction, temporary lane shifts are expected between 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at each location. Flag operators will direct traffic where needed, and signs will clearly post warnings about road work.

Because these water mains carry drinking water from Howard County, the entirety of the project will be handled by the county, even the portions that extend into Baltimore County.

The Howard County officials said they hope to have the replacement work done by February 2019, weather permitting.
