A pedestrian is fatally struck.
Howard County Police say the incident occurred just after 9 p.m. on Route 1, north of Hicks Road.
A Hyundai Elantra was reportedly traveling southbound on Route 1 when it struck pedestrian who was in the roadway.
The pedestrian, an adult male was pronounced dead on scene.
Officials say the driver remained on scene and was not injured.
All north and southbound lanes on US 1 were closed for an extended period of time.
