A letter sent out to parents and members of the Glenelg Country School community states that the Associate Head of School/Head of Upper School has resigned after allegations of an inappropriate sexual relationship with a former student in the early 2000's.

The school says that Dr. Raymond Broderick was a science teacher at the time the alleged incident happened.

The former student told school officials of the allegations against Broderick last week.  They immediately took steps to place him on leave before he resigned earlier this week.

In an effort to take proactive steps with the information received by their former student, school leaders launched an investigation and contacted Child Protective Services along with local law enforcement authorities.

In regards to the former administrator, Broderick was removed from campus, instructed not to have contact with any current or past members of the GCS community during the investigation, and given the opportunity to interview with investigators.

School counselors have been made available to speak with parents, students, alumni and faculty members.

The school urges anyone with concerns regarding Broderick’s conduct to contact the School’s attorney leading the investigation.
