The next portion of Main Street in Ellicott City is scheduled to reopen Monday, with construction continuing in the area.
Howard County Executive Allan Kittleman announced that Main Street between Court Avenue and Forrest Street is the newest section of the road to open for pedestrians and cars, allowing more businesses to open their doors or rebuild following the July 30 floods.
"Each week, we bring a little more normalcy back to Main Street," Kittleman said in a news release. "Every step forward, every shrinking of the 'no-access' perimeter, is welcome progress."
Historic Ellicott City is still closed to traffic and parking is prohibited on Main Street.
